OPPORTUNITIES FOR SWEDISH FOOD AND BEVERAGE COMPANIES IN SOUTH KOREA

WHAT

Sweden’s food and beverage exports to South Korea have been growing consistently with a 13% CAGR from 2018-2023. The market now features over 20 Swedish food and beverage brands, catering to both B2B and B2C segments.

Sweden has a positive branding in South Korea, built through historic engagements and the presence of established companies and brands in the market. The favourable country image lends credibility to business partners as well as to consumers, enhancing trust and market acceptance.

As the most vibrant consumer market in Asia, South Korea offers significant opportunities for Swedish food and beverage companies due to the rising demand for healthy products. Already in 2022, 51% of Koreans identified “Health” as their key purchasing factor for food consumption, a substantial increase from 29% in 2020. This trend underscores the growing potential for health-focused and sustainable Swedish brands to thrive in the South Korean market.
